Interdependence

July 4 is Independence Day in the United States, which is where I am situated, but today I do not celebrate independence.

After two years together, my partner and I finally settled on a date to honor our relationship.

Happy Interdependence Day, Aaron.

Sorry for the silence

I’ve been having a tough time personally for the past few days. Out of respect for others involved, I can’t say more about it here. Please bear with me. I will be back on track soon. Thanks, all.

Oh so true …

“More often than not, a hero’s most epic battle is the one you never see;
it’s the battle that goes on within him or herself.”

I oughta be committed

Commitment. The “C” word. It strikes fear into the hearts of men and women alike. Why?

It brings to mind a sort of finality. Something permanent. Closes the door on other opportunities. Loss of independence.

I think it is really a fear of responsibility.

What’s so bad about having someone care whether or not you are safe? I think it would be kinda nice to come home to someone who is fully expecting me to come home. It would be nice to have a place to call “home.”

I unofficially live with my boyfriend, who lives with his parents. A strange situation, to say the least. I’m kinda like that stray cat that shows up on your doorstep and never leaves. Anyway, last night I told my boyfriend that even though I have some problems with staying in his parents’ home, I have chosen to be there because I want to be with him. I have been wanting to tell him that for days now.

I think I have committed myself without using the C word.

Let barking dogs bark

“Bless the beasts and the children
For in this world they have no voice
They have no choice … “

Barking dogs annoy neighbors. But something about letting dogs go outside makes them want to bark at anything that passes by. My boyfriend’s dogs are very good about not barking inside the house. For the most part, they are good about keeping quiet outside in the yard as well. But if somebody walks by the house, or the next door neighbor lets out her dogs, the barking starts. And we have to bring the dogs inside and scold them for barking.

Now wait a minute. Dogs communicate by barking. Barking is their form of speech. People are stifling dogs from expressing themselves. How do YOU feel when you have something to say, but know that you can’t say it?

Let a dog bark a little. And LISTEN to your fellow man once in awhile.

How happy are you?

This sounds about right.

You Are 60% Happy

You’re definitely a happy person, even though you have your down moments.

You tend to get the most out of life, though there’s always some more happiness to be squeezed.

Just for fun

Your Blog Should Be Purple

You’re an expressive, offbeat blogger who tends to write about anything and everything.

You tend to set blogging trends, and you’re the most likely to write your own meme or survey.

You are a bit distant though. Your blog is all about you – not what anyone else has to say.

Happy Birthday to me

I am 40 years old today.

My peers and cohorts are parents, physicians, homeowners, academicians. I am none of these. Thinking about that fact used to really bother me. Now I just don’t much care.

In the beginning

In the beginning, there were blogs. And I did not want a blog. I thought no one would want to read what I wanted to say.

There was an online program, and being a good little member/follower, I started a blog just as I was told to do. For back then, I did what I was told to do.

The blog was read by many. I was very happy about that. But only members of that program could leave comments. I did not like that. Members were instructed to promote a certain program. I REALLY did not like that.

Suddenly, I sprouted wings and began to fly. I saw many wondrous things in the world. And I wanted more.

I met Mike Filsaime at a conference. He recommended blogger.com as a good place for a blog. I thought about it, for by then I had learned to think about things, and went to check it out. I could write about what I wanted. I could host the blog wherever I wanted. I did not have to pay a fee. And ANYBODY could post comments!

Blogger.com is the new home for my blog. And all is good again.
